| President Reagan signed the Immigration Reform and Control Act in 1986. The act granted amnesty to approximately three million undocumented immigrants who entered the United States prior to January 1, 1982, and had lived in the country continuously. Upon signing the act at a ceremony held beside the newly refurbished Statue of Liberty, Reagan said, "The legalization provisions in this act will go far to improve the lives of a class of individuals who now must hide in the shadows, without access to many of the benefits of a free and open society. Very soon many of these men and women will be able to step into the sunlight and, ultimately, become Americans." |

Sikh South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley is ignorant of the US Constitution and laws of the the United States. A poll tax was used as a de facto or implicit pre-condition of the exercise of the ability to vote. This tax emerged in some states of the United States in the late 19th century as part of the Jim Crow laws that block blacks from voting. After the ability to vote was extended to all races by the enactment of the Fifteenth Amendment, many Southern states enacted poll tax laws as a means of restricting eligible voters; such laws often included a grandfather clause, which allowed any adult male whose father or grandfather had voted in a specific year prior to the abolition of slavery to vote without paying the tax. These laws, along with unfairly implemented literacy tests and extra-legal intimidation, achieved the desired effect of disfranchising African-American and Native American voters, as well as poor whites. The 24th Amendment to the US Constitution, ratified in 1964, reflecting a political compromise, abolished the use of the poll tax or any other tax as a pre-condition for voting in Federal elections.
In the 1966 case of Harper v. Virginia Board of Elections, the Supreme Court overruled its decision in Breedlove v. Suttles, and extended the prohibition of poll taxes to state elections. It declared the imposition of a poll tax in state elections violated the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment to the United States Constitution.It appears Sikh South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley has never read the US Constitution or United States Supreme Court case law. Yet, despite billions in aid, opinion polls show Muslims hate America and most Muslim nations routinely vote against U.S. interests in the United Nations. Some Muslim countries show almost no friendship or allegiance to the U.S. but continue to take U.S. State Department money showered on them. Algeria received $60 million and votes with the U.S. just 16% of the time. Oman $74 million, 18% of the time voting supporting the USA. Bring all troops home from Afghanistan. Close the U.S. Embassy in Iraq. Close the Embassy in Cairo. Close the Embassy in Libya. Close the U.S. Embassy in every Muslim country that demonstrates or attacks a U.S. Embassy. Move the U.S. Embassy in Israel to Jerusalem. Fully support Israel and end Iran becoming nuclear. Approve Federal Law all colleges and universities using tax dollars in the USA require all students be American citizens pledging allegiance to the United States of America. The U.S. State Department must not issue visas that allow entry of foreign students to enter the United States to attend an American college or university, public or private. American colleges and universities must be for the education of American citizens, not foreign citizens.The 2012 presidential election and beyond Hispanics are the future of America and believe as Republicans in the same social, conservative & Judeo-Christian Values that are the foundation of America's Declaration of Independence. Hispanics voted for Obama because he was the better of two poor choices. Obama in his first term never came close to Immigration Reform and deported 1.5 million Hispanics. Hispanics did not vote for Romney because of his use of vitriolic, caustic diatribe and demeaning "illegal" and "self deport" labels. Unless this rhetoric and use of these labels come to an end, Republicans will come to the same end as dinosaurs — extinction. The Republican Party is a better fit with Hispanics but we must be treated with respect. To win elections, the Republican Party must invite Hispanics to join as full partners. For Hispanics to join the Republican Party, Immigration Reform is essential for 87% of America's Hispanics who are from Mexico (63%) and from Central and South America (24%). Cuban Americans are 4% and Puerto Ricans are 9% of America's Hispanic community. Neither group require Immigration Reform.
